Couple photographer in Paris

One hour starts at €399 and two hours at €599, on digital, and the rate is the same wherever in Paris we photograph. That covers the planning, the location guide, the outfit guide, the session itself, and a private online gallery of individually edited high-resolution images. Film is added on top. One hour is enough for one spot, or two that are a short walk apart, and it is what most couples book on digital. Two hours lets us cross the city, take in two or three quite different backdrops and slow right down, and it is what most couples book when they add film. If you are not sure, tell me what you want out of the photographs and I will tell you honestly which one you need.

You are not choosing blind. Once your session is booked I send you a location guide: my own spots, and for each one what it is actually like at the hour we would go, what ends up in the background, how busy it gets and how far apart they are. You pick the one you like, or several and we walk between them. If you would rather not choose at all, tell me what you want it to feel like and I will build the route.

You get an outfit guide before the session, as a PDF, covering colour, fabric, layers and shoes, and what changes with the season you are travelling in. The short version is to wear something you feel like yourselves in, coordinated rather than matching, in calm tones that sit well against Paris stone and greenery, with shoes you can walk in. Once you have narrowed it down, send me photographs of the options and I will tell you which one I would rather photograph.

It is what almost every couple tells me beforehand, and it sorts itself out inside the first ten minutes. We start by walking and talking rather than posing. I give gentle direction, where to walk, where to look, something to react to, and then leave the two of you to it while I keep photographing. You don't need any experience: that part is my job.

Sunrise, without hesitation. At first light the Trocadero, the Louvre and the Tuileries are close to empty and the light is soft rather than hard and overhead. It means an early alarm, which is a lot easier than it sounds when you have just flown in from another timezone. Golden hour, the hour before sunset, is the next best window: the same warmth, a far busier city.

Paris works all year, and each season changes the photographs rather than spoiling them: blossom and long soft evenings in spring, late golden light in summer, copper tones and low sun in autumn, bare trees, mist and empty streets in winter. The one thing worth planning around is daylight. Sunrise is around 8:45 in December and 5:50 in June, and that is what decides how early we start.

We photograph anyway, and it is often better. Overcast light is soft and even, and rain gives you wet stone, reflections and a city that has emptied out. Some of my favourite Paris couple photographs were made on exactly those days. The wet-weather version of your session is settled in the recap the day before, so it is a decision already made rather than one taken in a panic on the morning. If a real storm is forecast, we move the session.

The digital gallery arrives within a week, usually while you are still travelling. If you have added film, it is developed and scanned here in Paris and follows about a week after that. Say so if you need it sooner, because the lab is a walk away and can turn a roll around in 24 to 48 hours when there is a reason to. Everything is individually edited by me and delivered in a private online gallery you can share with family, with full-resolution downloads and prints ordered straight from it.

Yes, and French. Most of the couples I photograph don't live in France, so the whole thing is built for people arriving from somewhere else, down to the meeting points and the timings. You have my phone number from the moment you book and you are welcome to use it, whether the question is about the session or about where to eat afterwards.

Yes to both. For a proposal I stay out of sight and photograph the moment as it happens, then we continue with a full couple session once you have both said yes. The details are on the proposal photographer page. If you are already engaged, the engagement session page covers how those work.

Probably not, at least not on its own. A wedding day, or an elopement with just the two of you, is a different job with a great deal more planning behind it, and it has its own page, wedding photographer in Paris. Plenty of couples do both, a session on one trip and the wedding later, but they are worth booking as what they are.
