at the Jardin du Luxembourg
I’m Quentin, a couple photographer in Paris, creating timeless and intimate couple portraits at the Jardin du Luxembourg, shot first on film. Fountains, tree-lined alleys, the green chairs by the pond and the quiet streets of Saint-Germain just outside the gates: a full session in one calm corner of the Left Bank.

Couple photoshoot at the Jardin du Luxembourg: fountains, green chairs and Left Bank calm
The Jardin du Luxembourg is the garden Parisians actually use, and that’s exactly why it works so well for a couple photoshoot. In one enclosed park you get the Médicis Fountain and its long shaded basin under the plane trees, the grand bassin with the palace façade behind it and the famous green metal chairs scattered around the water, and, away from the centre, quiet tree-lined alleys on the southern side where you can walk for ten minutes without passing anyone. Few places in Paris put this much variety inside a single set of gates.

The garden opens between 7:30 and 8:15 depending on the season, and the first hour is the time to come: the alleys are nearly empty and we can work around the fountain and the bassin before the chairs fill up. That said, this is one of the most flexible locations I shoot: the southern alleys stay calm most of the day, and late afternoon works well too. One thing to know: the garden closes at dusk, so in winter we plan earlier. Overcast and rainy days are no problem here: fewer people, even light, and film renders those conditions beautifully.

Getting there is simple: the garden sits between RER B Luxembourg, métro Odéon and métro Saint-Sulpice, so we’ll agree a meeting point based on where you’re coming from: the main gate on place Edmond Rostand is usually the easiest. And the session doesn’t have to stop at the gates: some of the quietest old streets on the Left Bank run between the garden and Saint-Sulpice, a few minutes’ walk that adds classic Paris streets to your garden portraits. You just have to show up together: I’ll handle the route.
My approach
How I photograph couples at the Jardin du Luxembourg
A garden session is a walk, not a series of poses. We move through the Luxembourg the way you would on any Sunday: along the Médicis basin, around the pond, down the southern alleys, sitting for a moment in two green chairs pulled close together. The garden does half the work for me: the long alleys create depth, the rows of trees frame you naturally, and the chairs give us the most Parisian sitting portrait there is. I place you in the right spot and let you be together.
I’m a film-first photographer, and the Luxembourg suits film in every season: green in spring and summer, copper in autumn, bare and quiet in winter. Expect gentle direction rather than posing: a prompt, a walk, a moment to yourselves while I keep shooting. The result is what I aim for everywhere: timeless and intimate couple portraits that feel true rather than staged.

A couple photographer in Paris who captures the way you are together
My name is Quentin, and I’m a couple photographer based in Paris. I’ve been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember, first as a way of paying attention to the world, then as a way of holding onto it. The Jardin du Luxembourg is where I go to slow down: I’ve walked its alleys in every season, and it remains one of my favourite places to photograph couples. I shoot first on film, photographing couples in all the corners of the city.
What sets my work apart isn’t a location or a pose: it’s connection. Before I ever raise the camera, I want to know what makes you laugh, how you found each other, the small details that are entirely your own. The more I understand your story, the more honestly I can tell it. My couple portraits in Paris are built on that intimacy: timeless and intimate images that feel true rather than staged, tender rather than performed.
Whether it’s a first shoot together, an engagement, or simply a reason to mark where you are right now, I bring an editorial eye and a documentary instinct to every session: capturing not just how you look, but how you feel when you’re with each other.
As a couple photographer in Paris, my hope is that years from now, these photographs still feel like you, proof of a timeless and intimate kind of love.

Your questions about a couple photoshoot at the Jardin du Luxembourg
How much does a couple photoshoot at the Jardin du Luxembourg cost?
Couple sessions at the Jardin du Luxembourg start from €649 for a 2-hour portrait session: the same rate as anywhere in Paris. It includes preparation (route, timing, outfit advice), the shoot, and a private gallery of individually edited high-resolution images. Full details are on the pricing page.
What is the best time of day for a couple photoshoot at the Jardin du Luxembourg?
The first hour after opening: the garden opens between 7:30 and 8:15 depending on the season, and the alleys and fountain are at their quietest then. Late afternoon works well too, especially on the calmer southern side. Keep in mind the garden closes at dusk, so winter sessions are planned earlier in the day.
Is the Jardin du Luxembourg too crowded for a couple photoshoot?
Not if we time it right. The crowds gather around the pond and the chairs from late morning, but the garden is large: the southern alleys and the area around the Médicis Fountain stay calm for most of the day, and right after opening you’ll often have entire alleys to yourselves. I plan every route around that.
What happens if it rains on the day of our session?
We shoot. Rain and overcast skies work well at the Luxembourg: the garden empties out, the light is even, and film handles those conditions beautifully. If you’d rather have cover nearby, the streets towards Saint-Sulpice give us options a few minutes away. We only reschedule for weather that makes shooting genuinely impossible.
How long does a couple session at the Jardin du Luxembourg last, and how many photos do we get?
My couple sessions at the Jardin du Luxembourg last for at least 2 hours: enough time to cover the fountain, the pond and the alleys at a relaxed pace, because great photography takes time, especially on film. I shoot first on film, and can shoot digital alongside if you prefer. For a 2-hour session on film you’ll receive around 25 individually edited high-resolution images, delivered in a private online gallery.
Do you photograph proposals and engagements at the Jardin du Luxembourg?
Absolutely: the garden has plenty of quiet corners for a discreet proposal, from the Médicis Fountain to the southern alleys. I’ll help you pick the spot, stay hidden until the moment, and capture the surprise as it happens, then we continue with a full engagement session through the garden.
