Couple photoshoot in Le Marais: arcades, courtyards and narrow old streets
Le Marais is the part of Paris that kept its old street plan, and for a couple photoshoot that changes everything. Within a few hundred metres you have the arcades and the garden of Place des Vosges, the quiet courtyards of the Village Saint-Paul, rue des Barres dropping towards the Seine behind its church, and the storefronts and side streets around rue des Rosiers. No wide boulevards, no long walks between spots: your couple portraits move from arcades to courtyards to narrow streets in minutes, and each one looks like a different session.

Le Marais is also the most flexible location I shoot in Paris. The streets are narrow and the spots are close together, so we can work at almost any hour: when one street gets busy, the next courtyard is empty. Mornings before the shops open are the quietest, and worth it if you want Place des Vosges to yourselves; Sunday afternoons are the one moment I avoid, since the Marais is one of the few neighbourhoods where everything opens on Sunday. Rain is no problem here either: the arcades of Place des Vosges let us keep shooting under cover, the streets empty out, and film renders those conditions beautifully.

Getting there is simple: we meet at métro Saint-Paul, on line 1, in the middle of everything. From there I follow a route I’ve refined over many sessions: the arcades and garden of Place des Vosges first, then down through the Village Saint-Paul and rue des Barres, finishing in the streets around rue des Rosiers. I know which courtyards stay quiet and which corners to skip when the neighbourhood fills up. You just have to show up together: I’ll handle the route.
My approach
How I photograph couples in Le Marais
A session in Le Marais is a walk through old Paris, not a series of poses. We move the way you would on any afternoon here: under the arcades of Place des Vosges, through a courtyard gate, down a street barely wide enough for the two of you. The neighbourhood does half the work for me: the arcades give rhythm and repetition, the narrow streets frame you between old façades, and the courtyards feel private even in the middle of the city. I place you in the right spot and let you be together.
I’m a film-first photographer, and Le Marais is built for film: the old stone, the painted storefronts and the uneven streets belong on grain. Expect gentle direction rather than posing: a prompt, a walk, a moment to yourselves while I keep shooting. The result is what I aim for everywhere: timeless and intimate couple portraits that feel true rather than staged.

A couple photographer in Paris who captures the way you are together
My name is Quentin, and I’m a couple photographer based in Paris. I’ve been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember, first as a way of paying attention to the world, then as a way of holding onto it. Le Marais is the neighbourhood I cross most often on foot, and its courtyards and arcades remain one of my favourite places to photograph couples. I shoot first on film, photographing couples in all the corners of the city.
What sets my work apart isn’t a location or a pose: it’s connection. Before I ever raise the camera, I want to know what makes you laugh, how you found each other, the small details that are entirely your own. The more I understand your story, the more honestly I can tell it. My couple portraits in Paris are built on that intimacy: timeless and intimate images that feel true rather than staged, tender rather than performed.
Whether it’s a first shoot together, an engagement, or simply a reason to mark where you are right now, I bring an editorial eye and a documentary instinct to every session: capturing not just how you look, but how you feel when you’re with each other.
As a couple photographer in Paris, my hope is that years from now, these photographs still feel like you, proof of a timeless and intimate kind of love.

Your questions about a couple photoshoot in Le Marais
How much does a couple photoshoot in Le Marais cost?
Couple sessions in Le Marais start from €649 for a 2-hour portrait session: the same rate as anywhere in Paris. It includes preparation (route, timing, outfit advice), the shoot, and a private gallery of individually edited high-resolution images. Full details are on the pricing page.
What is the best time of day for a couple photoshoot in Le Marais?
Le Marais is one of the most flexible locations in Paris: the streets are narrow and the spots are close together, so we can shoot at almost any hour. Mornings before the shops open are the quietest, especially around Place des Vosges. The one slot I avoid is Sunday afternoon, when the whole neighbourhood is out.
Is Le Marais too crowded for a couple photoshoot?
Not if we route it right. The crowds stay on the main shopping streets: a courtyard gate or a side street away, the Marais is quiet. The Village Saint-Paul, rue des Barres and the garden side of Place des Vosges stay calm most of the day, and I plan every session around that.
Which spots in Le Marais are best for couple portraits?
My favourites: the arcades and the garden of Place des Vosges, the courtyards of the Village Saint-Paul, rue des Barres behind the church of Saint-Gervais, and the streets around rue des Rosiers. They sit within a few minutes of each other, so a single session covers all of them on foot.
How long does a couple session in Le Marais last, and how many photos do we get?
My couple sessions in Le Marais last for at least 2 hours: enough time to walk from Place des Vosges to the Village Saint-Paul at a relaxed pace, because great photography takes time, especially on film. I shoot first on film, and can shoot digital alongside if you prefer. For a 2-hour session on film you’ll receive around 25 individually edited high-resolution images, delivered in a private online gallery.
Do you photograph proposals and engagements in Le Marais?
Absolutely: the courtyards and the arcades give you plenty of discreet options. I’ll help you pick the spot, stay hidden until the moment, and capture the surprise as it happens, then we continue with a full engagement session through the neighbourhood.
