I'm Quentin Carlier, a wedding and couple photographer based in Paris. I photograph honeymoon sessions in English or French, with digital photography included and the option to add film. How long should a honeymoon photoshoot in Paris take?
Start with a day when you have a little room in your plans. Allow time to get ready and reach the meeting point, and leave a gap afterwards before your next reservation. It is easier to enjoy a walk together when you are not keeping an eye on the time for a museum ticket or a train.
If you are arriving after a long flight, consider giving yourselves time to settle in before the photographs. Tell me which days you are in Paris and what you have already booked. We can work out where the session fits.
One hour works well for one location, or two close enough to walk between. Two hours gives us more room for different surroundings and a longer walk. Choose around the photographs you would like and the time you want to spend; a one-hour session gets the same preparation from me.

Where to take your honeymoon photographs in Paris
Think about what made you choose Paris for your honeymoon. Perhaps you have been imagining a photograph together with the Eiffel Tower behind you. Perhaps it is the streets, the river, or simply having time to wander that you are looking forward to. That is a useful place to begin.
The Eiffel Tower gives the photographs a recognisable setting. Tell me if that view matters to you, and we can build the route around it while leaving space for closer portraits of the two of you.
The Seine suits a walk with stops by the water, along the stone quays and near the bridges. If you like photographs where the city is present around you, it is a good starting point.
Montmartre brings cobbled streets, steps and views across the rooftops, as in the photograph above. Let me know how much walking you are comfortable with so we can choose the route accordingly.
Once you book, I send you my location guide, with the spots I photograph and what each is like. You can choose from that, or tell me the atmosphere you like and ask me to suggest a route. If somewhere already means something to you, include it in your message.
/ Timing
Choosing a time for your honeymoon photoshoot
When we choose the time, we consider the location alongside your plans. If you would like an early session, tell me whether you are happy to get up and travel across the city or would prefer to stay nearer your hotel. If a slow breakfast is part of your honeymoon, mention that too.
We settle the meeting time for your actual dates and route. You will receive the exact meeting point in the recap the day before, together with the weather plan and my phone number.
Give yourselves enough time afterwards to continue the morning or evening together. You might already be dressed for a meal out, or simply want to carry on walking.
/ In front of the camera
What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?
You do not need to practise poses before your honeymoon. We begin by walking and talking, and I give you something simple to do: walk towards me, turn towards each other, or hold hands for a moment, as above. You have someone helping you throughout.
From there, I leave room for you to react to each other. Some photographs will have you looking at the camera; in others, you will be caught up in a conversation or an embrace. You can tell me when you need a pause or when something feels uncomfortable.
If one of you is more enthusiastic about being photographed, mention it when you enquire. It helps me understand how you both feel about the session and plan a pace you can enjoy together.
/ What to wear
What to wear for your Paris honeymoon photoshoot
One outfit each is enough. A dress you have packed for dinner, a shirt and trousers, or a favourite knit with a good coat can all be a starting point. Try the outfits together and aim for a similar level of dressiness, with shoes you can comfortably walk in.
White is welcome if you would like to wear it for your honeymoon. You can also choose any colour you already enjoy. Think about how the clothes feel when you sit down, hold hands and move close to each other, and include your outer layers when choosing together.

/ Weather
What happens if it rains?
The weather plan is part of the preparation. In the recap the day before, I confirm the conditions we expect and how we will approach the session, so you know what to bring when you leave the hotel.
For rain, bring an umbrella you can share, an outer layer you are happy to have in the photographs and shoes with grip. Wet stone and reflections can become part of the setting, and we can make photographs with your coats on.
For a really bad storm, we look at moving the session. It helps to know your full travel dates when you enquire, especially if you only have a short stay in Paris.
/ Your photographs
Your honeymoon photographs: digital and optional film
Digital photography is included in the session. If you also love the look of film, you can add medium format or 35mm film, in colour or black and white, as in the photograph above. We discuss that before the day as part of planning your photographs.
I edit every photograph individually. Your digital gallery arrives within a week; film is developed and scanned here in Paris and follows about a week later. You receive a private online gallery with full-resolution downloads, which you can share with family and use to order prints.

How much does a Paris honeymoon photoshoot cost?
My Paris honeymoon sessions follow my couple photography rates: one hour starts at €319 and two hours at €549, with digital photography included. Both include preparation, location and outfit guides, the session and a private gallery of individually edited photographs. Film is an optional addition. The rate is the same wherever in Paris we photograph.

A few more questions before you book
Can we book before arriving in France?
Yes. We can plan your honeymoon photoshoot before you travel, including the location, outfits and timing. Once you book, I send you the guides, and the recap arrives the day before the session with the exact meeting point, weather plan and my number.
Can we wear our wedding outfits again?
Yes, you can choose your wedding outfits for honeymoon portraits. Tell me beforehand so we can consider walking, steps and how comfortably you can move in them. Bring easier shoes for the walk if you need them, and mention any outfit change while we plan the route.
Is this the right session if we are getting married in Paris?

/ A simple checklist
Before you leave the hotel
- Read the recap for the exact meeting point and time.
- Try your outfits together, including coats and shoes.
- Pack a comfortable pair of shoes if you are wearing heels for some photographs.
- Bring the layers and umbrella we have discussed for the weather.
- Keep bulky phones and keys in a small bag during the photographs.
- Leave enough time to get to the meeting point comfortably.
