A Paris anniversary photoshoot, to mark your years together

An anniversary trip gives you time to look back at what you have shared and enjoy where you are now. A Paris anniversary photoshoot can be part of that: an hour or two together, a place you have chosen, and a new set of photographs of the two of you.

  • One hour from €399
  • Two hours from €599
  • Digital included

Perhaps you are visiting for the first time. Perhaps you are returning to the city where you spent your honeymoon.

I'm Quentin Carlier, a wedding and couple photographer based in Paris. I photograph anniversary sessions in English or French, with digital photography included and optional film. Before we meet, I send you a location guide, an outfit guide and a recap with the meeting point and weather plan. During the session, I help you feel comfortable with gentle direction as we walk and stop for photographs.

Whether you are celebrating your first wedding anniversary, your twenty-fifth, or the years since you first met, we can plan the session around what the occasion means to you. My Paris couple photography page explains the service and preparation in more detail.

What would you like these photographs to remember?

Before choosing a location, think about why you would like photographs on this trip. You may want a portrait to hang beside your wedding photograph, something to share with your family, or simply pictures of yourselves together after years of one person holding the camera.

Tell me a little about that when you enquire. If there is an older photograph you love, send it along. It can help me understand what matters to you: the closeness, the setting, the way you were looking at each other, or a small detail you still recognise.

You can also arrive with very little in mind. An anniversary is reason enough to put an hour aside and see what we make together.

Returning to Paris for your anniversary

If you spent your honeymoon in Paris, got engaged here or visited early in your relationship, there may already be a place you want to return to. A bridge you crossed every morning or a street near your old hotel can give us a starting point for the session.

Send me the location, or an old photograph if you cannot remember exactly where it was. We can look at how it might fit into the route and check whether photographing there is practical for your dates. For a hotel interior or another private space, access needs to be agreed with the venue beforehand.

If you would like a photograph in a similar spot or composition, mention it. We can make room for that alongside new portraits from this visit. The earlier photograph becomes part of the story, and you have something from this anniversary to place beside it.

Where to take anniversary photographs in Paris

A couple walking hand in hand down a quiet cobbled street in Montmartre, smiling at each other, with a pink house, ivy-covered buildings and the dome of Sacré-Cœur behind them.
Montmartre, below Sacré-Cœur. A slow walk is often where a session begins.

If this is your first trip, or you would like to explore somewhere different, choose the surroundings you would enjoy spending time in. Once you book, my location guide helps you compare the places and decide where we go.

The Seine is a starting point for river views, stone quays and bridges. We can plan a walk with stops for both wider photographs of you in the city and closer portraits together.

The Eiffel Tower may be the view you have pictured while planning the trip. Tell me if having it in the photographs is a priority, and we can choose the route around that.

Montmartre offers cobbled lanes, steps and rooftop views, as in the photograph above. If you enjoy wandering through streets together, it may suit the kind of session you have in mind. Let me know about any walking or access needs before we settle the meeting point.

You do not need to cover all three. Choosing one area gives us time to settle into the photographs and enjoy being there.

Should you book one hour or two?

One hour works well for one location, or two nearby spots with a short walk between them. It is a useful choice if you would like portraits during a trip that already includes meals, visits and time to yourselves. You receive the same preparation as for a longer session.

Two hours gives us more room for different surroundings and a longer route. It can also help if returning to a particular place is part of your plan and you want photographs elsewhere as well. Tell me what you hope to include, and I will help you choose a duration that makes sense.

We agree the meeting time around your dates, the location and your plans. If you have booked an anniversary dinner, share the reservation time before we schedule the photographs. Allow room to travel, get ready and enjoy the session without watching the clock.

What if you have not been photographed together for years?

Montmartre. A pause on the steps, close together.

You can tell me that before we meet. There is no need to remember how you stood for your wedding portraits or arrive knowing what to do with your hands. We begin by walking and talking, with simple direction when it helps: where to stand, which way to turn, or how to sit comfortably together.

Some photographs will be more direct, with both of you looking at the camera. Others will come while you are talking or holding each other. I leave room for both and help you through the parts that feel unfamiliar.

If one of you feels less comfortable about the session, let me know. We can talk about what you each want from it. A quiet walk and a few simple portraits can be a good place to begin.

What to wear for an anniversary photoshoot in Paris

Montmartre. Cream and white, with lace and texture, against the green.

Choose clothes that suit how you want to celebrate. You might enjoy dressing up for the photographs and going out afterwards, or prefer the clothes you would wear for a relaxed day together. One outfit each is enough, with a similar level of dressiness and shoes you can walk in.

An anniversary can be a lovely occasion to wear something with a history: a piece of jewellery with a story, a watch given as a gift, or a jacket you still enjoy. Mention a detail you would like me to notice. It can have a place in the photographs without needing to shape the whole session.

Try the outfits together, including coats or jackets, and check that you can sit and embrace comfortably. My what-to-wear guide includes real summer and winter examples, advice on colours and layers, and a packing checklist. You can also send me photographs of your options before the trip.

Can an anniversary photoshoot be a gift?

If you are thinking of arranging a session for your partner, contact me with your travel dates and the idea before making plans around it. We can discuss availability and how the photographs could fit into your anniversary trip.

I suggest telling your partner with enough time for them to choose clothes and take part in planning. The gift can still be a surprise when you give it, while the session becomes something you look forward to together.

It helps to know whether they enjoy being photographed and whether there is a Paris location they would especially like. Those details give us something personal to build on.

What happens if it rains?

We settle the weather plan in the recap the day before your session. Rain can be part of the photographs, with an umbrella to share, reflections and wet stone around you. Bring an outer layer you are comfortable wearing in the pictures and shoes with grip.

If severe weather prevents the photoshoot, we first look for another time during your stay. Include your full Paris travel dates when you enquire, and tell me if photographing on the anniversary itself matters to you. That helps us plan with the time you actually have available.

Your anniversary gallery, with optional film

Montmartre. A wider view, with room around the two of you for the city.

Digital photography is included. You can add medium format or 35mm film, in colour or black and white, if you would like film photographs alongside your digital gallery. We discuss the options before the session.

I edit every photograph individually. The digital gallery arrives within a week; film is developed and scanned in Paris and follows about a week later. Your private online gallery includes full-resolution downloads and the option to order prints.

If you are imagining a framed portrait beside an older photograph, tell me before we meet. Knowing where you would like the picture to live helps us think about a wider view, a closer portrait, or a photograph with room around you for the city.

How much does a Paris anniversary photoshoot cost?

Anniversary sessions follow my Paris couple photography rates: one hour starts at €399 and two hours at €599, with digital photography included. Both include preparation, location and outfit guides, the session and a private gallery of individually edited photographs. Film is an optional addition, and the rate is the same wherever in Paris we photograph.

The pricing page shows the current session options and film additions. To check availability, send me your travel dates and any place you would like to include. We can plan in English or French before you arrive in France.

A few more questions before you book

Does it need to be a milestone wedding anniversary?

No. You can book for any anniversary, whether you are married or marking the years since you met. Tell me what you are celebrating so I understand the occasion.

Do we need to take the photographs on the anniversary itself?

No. We can choose a day during your Paris trip that gives you time to enjoy the session. If the exact date is important to you, include it in your first message so I can check availability for that day.

Can we revisit a location from an earlier session with you?

Yes, we can plan around a place you would like to return to, subject to access and conditions at the time. Send me the earlier photographs you have in mind and tell me whether you would enjoy a similar view, a new route nearby, or a mixture of both.

What if we are planning a vow renewal too?

If you would like a vow renewal ceremony photographed as well as portraits, include those details when you enquire. The ceremony, guests and timings need their own coverage plan, which we can discuss separately from the portrait session.

Before your anniversary session

  • Share any earlier photograph or meaningful location you would like us to consider.
  • Tell me about dinner reservations or other fixed plans before we choose the time.
  • Try your outfits together, with shoes and outer layers.
  • Mention any personal detail you would like photographed.
  • Read the recap for the meeting point, time and weather plan.
  • Leave enough time to reach the location comfortably.

Once we have worked out those details, you can enjoy the walk and the time together. I will help you with the photographs as we go.

Tell me about your day.

I reply personally, usually within a few hours, with my availability and the next steps. Sending an enquiry does not commit you to a booking.

A rough range is enough, in any currency. It tells me what I can realistically build for you before we spend time on a call.

I use these details only to answer your enquiry and plan a session. They are kept for 3 years from our last contact, then deleted. No marketing emails, no sharing with third parties. See the privacy policy.
