I’m Quentin, a couple photographer in Montmartre and across Paris, creating timeless and intimate couple portraits, shot first on film. At sunrise, the cobbled lanes around the Sacré-Cœur are empty and golden: the most romantic village in Paris, all to yourselves.

Couple photoshoot in Montmartre: cobblestones, golden light and old-Paris charm

Montmartre doesn’t feel like the rest of Paris: it feels like a village that time forgot. Cobbled lanes climbing the hill, ivy-covered façades, the pink corner of La Maison Rose, the lampposts of rue de l’Abreuvoir, the vines of the Clos Montmartre and, above it all, the white domes of the Sacré-Cœur. For a couple photoshoot in Montmartre, that means something rare: within a ten-minute walk, your portraits move from intimate stairways to sweeping views over the rooftops of Paris. No other neighbourhood gives couple portraits this much texture and variety in a single session.

The light is the other reason I keep coming back. At sunrise, before 7am in summer, the streets are completely empty and the first light catches the east-facing steps and façades with a soft, golden warmth. In autumn, the ivy turns copper and the cobblestones shine after rain; in winter, the hill is quiet and cinematic by mid-morning. Golden hour in the evening is beautiful too, but Montmartre belongs to couples at dawn: it’s the only time you’ll have rue de l’Abreuvoir or the steps of the Sacré-Cœur entirely to yourselves.

Practically, it couldn’t be easier. We usually meet at metro Lamarck–Caulaincourt or Abbesses and follow a route I’ve refined over dozens of sessions: quiet stairways first, then the iconic streets, ending with the view from the top of the hill. I know which corners stay empty, which angles avoid the crowds around Place du Tertre, and where to pause for a coffee if you need a breath. You just have to show up together: I’ll take care of the rest.

My approach

How I photograph couples in Montmartre

Montmartre rewards walking, so that’s what we do. Rather than fixed poses on a fixed spot, I photograph you moving through the village: climbing the stairways hand in hand, pausing under a lamppost, laughing on a corner of rue Saint-Rustique. The hill’s geography does half the work: staircases create natural depth, narrow lanes frame you between old walls, and the elevation gives us rooftop backdrops no other Paris location can offer. I simply place you in the right light and let you be together.

I’m a film-first photographer, and Montmartre is where film makes the most sense: the grain, the muted colours and the old façades belong to the same era. Expect gentle direction rather than posing: a prompt, a walk, a moment to yourselves while I keep shooting. The result is what I aim for everywhere, but Montmartre makes it effortless: timeless and intimate couple portraits that feel true rather than staged.

A couple photographer in Paris who captures the way you are together

My name is Quentin, and I’m a couple photographer based in Paris. I’ve been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember, first as a way of paying attention to the world, then as a way of holding onto it. I’ve spent countless early mornings in Montmartre watching the light change on the cobblestones, and it remains one of my favourite places to photograph couples. I shoot first on film, photographing couples in all the corners of the city.

What sets my work apart isn’t a location or a pose: it’s connection. Before I ever raise the camera, I want to know what makes you laugh, how you found each other, the small details that are entirely your own. The more I understand your story, the more honestly I can tell it. My couple portraits in Paris are built on that intimacy: timeless and intimate images that feel true rather than staged, tender rather than performed.

Whether it’s a first shoot together, an engagement, or simply a reason to mark where you are right now, I bring an editorial eye and a documentary instinct to every session: capturing not just how you look, but how you feel when you’re with each other.

As a couple photographer in Paris, my hope is that years from now, these photographs still feel like you, proof of a timeless and intimate kind of love.

FAQ

Your questions about a couple photoshoot in Montmartre

How much does a couple photoshoot in Montmartre cost?

Couple sessions in Montmartre start from €649 for a 2-hour portrait session: the same rate as anywhere in Paris. It includes preparation (route, timing, outfit advice), the shoot, and a private gallery of individually edited high-resolution images. Full details are on the pricing page.

What is the best time of day for a couple photoshoot in Montmartre?

Sunrise, without hesitation. At first light the cobbled streets around the Sacré-Cœur are completely empty and the light is soft and golden. In summer that means meeting around 6am; in winter, the hill stays quiet until mid-morning. Evening golden hour is lovely too, but expect more people around the iconic spots.

Is Montmartre too crowded for a couple photoshoot?

Not if you know when and where to go. The crowds concentrate around Place du Tertre and the front steps of the Sacré-Cœur from late morning. At sunrise, or on the quieter back streets like rue Saint-Rustique and the stairways of rue du Mont-Cenis, you’ll often have Montmartre entirely to yourselves: I plan every route around that.

Which streets in Montmartre are best for couple portraits?

My favourites: rue de l’Abreuvoir for the lampposts and La Maison Rose, the vines of the Clos Montmartre, the staircases of rue du Mont-Cenis and rue Foyatier, the quiet rue Saint-Rustique, and the view over Paris from the top of the hill. A single session can cover all of them on foot.

How long does a couple session in Montmartre last, and how many photos do we get?

My couple sessions in Montmartre last for at least 2 hours: enough time to walk the full route at a relaxed pace, because great photography takes time, especially on film. I shoot first on film, and can shoot digital alongside if you prefer. For a 2-hour session on film you’ll receive around 25 individually edited high-resolution images, delivered in a private online gallery.

Do you photograph proposals and engagements in Montmartre?

Absolutely: Montmartre is one of the most romantic places in Paris to propose. I’ll help you pick a discreet spot with a view, stay hidden until the moment, and capture the surprise as it happens, then we continue with a full engagement session through the village.
