Meet your photographer

## A photographer who plans first, so nothing has to stop for the camera

My name is Quentin. I photograph weddings, from Paris through Provence and across Europe. I have been photographing for more than fifteen years, since I was a kid, and before I moved to capturing weddings I spent years as a project manager in advertising agencies, running productions where the plan had to survive contact with a real day. I do not think of that as a previous career so much as the half of this job nobody talks about.

For years I photographed strangers in Paris, people who were not posing and could not be asked to do it again. That is where I learned to see something a few seconds before it happens and photograph it without stepping into it, which is most of what I do at a wedding now.

I have shot film for years, medium format and 35mm. On weddings and on couple sessions alike it is an option added to the digital coverage, and a good number of couples take it. Either way the method is the same: work it out properly in advance, so that when it is actually happening I am not the one interrupting it.

My approach

## Planned in advance, so nothing has to stop for the camera

Before I photographed weddings I spent years as a project manager in advertising agencies, and that is most of what I bring to [a wedding day](https://carlierquentin.fr/wedding-photographer-paris/): the timeline agreed with your planner weeks out, and the photographs that matter to you settled before anyone is getting dressed.

None of that is a list of poses. It is a list of people. Your grandmother, the friend who flew in from a long way away, the ones you will go looking for first when the photographs arrive. I would rather know who they are three weeks out than be guessing at them across a room of a hundred and twenty people.

All of that planning has one purpose, which is that nothing on the day has to stop for me. Most of my photography work before weddings was made in the street, photographing strangers in Paris who were not posing and could not be asked to do it again, so taking the picture without interrupting what is in it is simply the habit by now.
